Frosh volleyball goes 2-1 at home
Fort Scott High School's freshman volleyball team won two of three matches in a home triangular Tuesday night at the FSHS gymnasium.
In their first match, the Tigers defeated Independence, 25-14, 25-12. Megan McDermed served 17 points and Brook Gillen served 10. McDermed, Jenna Campbell and Kori Allen each had two blocks.
In match two, Chanute defeated Fort Scott, 25-23, 14-25, 25-14. Peyton Riedel served 16 points and Allen served 10. Gillen picked up five kills while McDermed and Morgan Tourtillott each had three. Tourtillott also had two blocks.
In the final match, the Tigers swept Iola, 25-21, 25-22. Campbell and Tourtillott served 14 points each. Allen recorded four blocks, Tourtillott three and McDermed and Campbell two each.
The freshmen now have a season record of 10-7. They will host Columbus, Louisburg and Jayhawk-Linn at 5 p.m. on Monday in their final home matches of the season. They will also travel to Chanute to take on Parsons, Coffeyville and the host Blue Comets at 5 Tuesday evening.
