The FSHS Pride of Tigerland Band will be traveling to Chicago on Memorial Day weekend next spring, according to a written statement by FSHS band director James Fox.

While in Chicago, the 73-member FSHS band will perform for Memorial Day festivities at the Navy Pier on the Pepsi Skyline Stage. A performance is also scheduled at the Millennium Park in the heart of downtown Chicago. Millennium Park, with its unprecedented combination of architecture, monumental sculpture and landscape design, has become one of the crowning achievements for Chicago in the tradition of its original founders.

The band will also have a chance to see the sights and attend a performance of the Blue Man Group at the historic Briar Street Theatre. FSHS band students and band boosters are actively raising money for the tour and are excited about the challenge of raising the necessary funds, the statement from Fox said.

The band boosters' first fund raiser include a pancake and sausage feed scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 in the courtyard of the Liberty Theatre, 113 S. Main St.

"Every ticket includes all the pancakes and sausage you can eat," the statement from Fox said. "Do you want to try for the record? It stands at 72 pancakes right now."

Tickets for the event cost $6 for adults and $4.50 for children 10 years of age and younger.
