School sports, fundraisers under way
School is back in session. Kids are playing football, volleyball, or like the 8th grade students selling cookie dough. Yum!
The daytime study group of the Diamond Community Church met with Esther Secrest, Aug. 15.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hays and Josh took a recent trip to visit relatives in Tennessee. Frank reports it was so hot, about all they could do was sit under the AC. Birthday offerings at the Cherry Grove Church, Aug. 19, were given by Zoe McReynolds, Dacey Kendrick, Emily Simpson, Kola Gray, Joan Ruby and Perry Dobbins. Marilyn and Lyle Babcock and Lorna and Glen celebrated anniversaries. The special was sung by Marilyn Babcock "Where the Roses Never Fade." Diane and Karla Gray sang "Pass It On." Pastor Dale's sermon was "God's Time" Bases on Ecclesiastes 3:9-15.
Pam Korinek joined member of the Garden Club for dinner at Chicken Mary's, Aug. 20.
Pastor Mahato's sermon at the Diamond Community Church, aug. 26, was "If You Knew" based on John 4:1-14. Special music was by the Muhota children who sang "God Will Make A Way." Pastor Muhota will tell about his recent trip to Kenya, Sept. 9, after a sandwich and salad lunch. The public is invited to come and hear his of his work in Kenya.
Ron Wolf and Delbert Wheeler were "good neighbors" when they finished bailing hay for the Gulliford family after V.H. broke his arm. Thanks again guys.
Jon Bingesser was home from Pittsburg State University over the weekend to visit his mother, Carol and sister, Brittany.
Edna Mae March took Horace Hawkins to chicken Mary's Aug. 12, to help Horace celebrate his birthday.
Esther Secrest joined Dorothy Ketner, Nellie Kalm, Ann Rourk and Beulah Queen for breakfast at the NuGrille, Aug. 29, honoring Beulah's birthday.
Several people from this community attended the volleyball tournament at the Fort Scott High School, Aug. 25. Carol Bingesser is the coach this year.
