Bourbon County residents do not have to be uninformed about county happenings. Bourbon County Clerk Joanne Long has spent much time updating a Web site informing all local residents of necessary information, according to the Web site.

The Internet site gives residents and non-residents a detailed history of Bourbon County. This account even informs the reader about the origin of the Bourbon County name. Also included in the historical accounts of Bourbon County are links to other sites that will help explain in greater detail. For example, a link to the Fort Scott National Historic Site in addition to Fort Scott Community College exists within the county's history.
