The meaning of brotherhood
To the Editor,
I have just received your newspaper dated Thursday, July 19, 2007, in which the beautiful monument of my uncle, Gordon Parks, is displayed! What a wonderful tribute to a great man who unselfishly accompanied so much during his lifetime.
Gordon was a loving, caring, happy, personable man who never met a stranger. I am glad that Fort Scott has seen fit to let the world know of his birthplace and his renowned work and accomplishments. It goes without saying that one man, Kenneth Lunt, was responsible for Gordon's accepting Fort Scott as his final resting place! Gordon felt very close to Ken, and saw him as a true brother and friend. Our family feels the same about him and his charmer wife, Charlotte.
The Parks family will be eternally grateful for the cordiality and benevolence extended to us by the good people of Fort Scott, Kansas. You have shown the world the true meaning of brotherhood. What a model you have been!
God bless all of you!
