Rosie Virginia McReynolds
Rosie Virginia McReynolds, 80, former resident of Fort Scott, more recently of Milo, Mo., died, Monday, July 30, 2007, at the Moore Few Care Center in Nevada, Mo.
She was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Jasper William Gibson and Ida Lena Moore Gibson.
She married Herbert Lee McReynolds on June 29, 1947, at Girard, Kan. He preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1997. She was a member of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Oren Lee McReynolds and wife, Joyce, and Gerald Lee McReynolds, and wife, Glenda, all of Fort Scott; four daughters, Carolyn Sue Ford, and husband Elbert, Milo, Mo. Shirley Ann Howell and husband, Robert, Fort Scott, Kan., Ida Lena Ford, and husband, Tom, Fort Scott, Kan., and Fannie Arlene Roark, and husband, Tommy, Polo, Mo.; a step-son, Marvin Kenith Duncan, Houston, Texas; and a step-daughter; Kathrine Blair and husband, Larry, Tuttle, Okla.
Also surviving are three brothers, Samuel Thomas Gibson, Fort Scott, Kan., Fredrick William Gibson, Kansas City, Mo., and Carl Melvin Gibson, Nevada, Mo.; 18 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Evertt James Gibson and a sister, Wanetta Mae Gibson.
The Rev. Elbert Ford will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Cherry Grove Baptist Church and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kansas.
