A Sheldon man suffered serious injuries when the 1993 Toyota he was driving burst through a guard rail and plummeted over an embankment, coming to rest near railroad tracks that go under U.S. 71, about a half mile south of Nevada, just after 4 p.m., Friday. Witnesses said the driver, George L. Johnson, 40, had been driving erratically, northbound on the highway a short time prior the the accident, and that it appeared a health condition may have contributed to the accident. Johnson had to be extricated from the car and was transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
