Jent 90th birthday

Friends and relatives are invited to a reception in honor of Winfred Jent's 90th birthday from 2- 4 p. m. Sunday, June 17, at the First Baptist Church fellowship hall, 123 S. Scott Ave, Fort Scott. The reception is being given by his children, Larry Jent and wife Loreta, Bloomington, Ill., David Jent, Fort Scott, Donna Spencer and husband Lawrence, Pleasanton, and Ruth Ann Konantz and husband Tom of Huntsville, Ala.

Mr. Jent was born June 17, 1917, and has lived most of his life in Bourbon County. He is a World War II veteran having served on the LSM83 in the Pacific Ocean as a radarman. After the war he returned to his job at The Western Insurance Company in Fort Scott where he worked for more thann 40 years, retiring in 1982. Following his retirement, he was instrumental in getting Tri-Valley Developmental Center brought to Fort Scott.

He has been active in the First Baptist Church, having taught Sunday School and serving on many committees as well as the Board of Deacons and Board of Trustees. He is still active in the community and drives the courtesy cart at Mercy Health Center on Monday afternoons.
