Some absent, but many still have fun at seniors dance

After all of the rainy days and nights we have had we were blessed with a beautiful evening for our regular Monday night dance. The crowd wasn't anything to brag about but everyone seemed to come to dance and dance they did. Everyone seemed to be in the mood for dancing as we did a lot of different calls for them to dance to.

We always have a Chair Dance and had a "Put Your Little Foot Out" which there aren't many couples that know how to do that so we keep it going the best we can. Then we were asked to do the "Flying Dutchman." There were three groups doing it. It takes a special tune for that. Then the "Line Dance" has quite a bunch of singles and it goes fast.

Before break time Virginia and Alva McNeely were called to the front and we all sang "Happy Anniversary" to them. They will celebrate their 66th wedding anniversary this Saturday, June 9. A beautiful decorated cake was presented to them and Marion Shrimplin sang the "Anniversary Song" to them as they danced. Lots of pictures were taken and we all gave them hearty congratulations.

There will be a dance at Cadmus Friday night and The Marmaton Valley Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers will be at the Senior Citizen Center on North Main Street Sunday afternoon starting at 1 p.m.

We were happy to see Bill Webster out dancing again. His son brought him tonight and picked him up after the dance. Bill can waltz and do a two-step real good. He didn't have any trouble getting a partner to dance.
