John Alexander Pearson, age 70, a resident of rural Fort Scott, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at his home.

John was born May 27, 1937, in Wichita, the son of Martin A. Pearson and Manda Bell Leopard Pearson. He served in the US Navy for 20 years before moving to Fort Scott, where he farmed and also worked at the Red Ram Motel.

John is survived by three brothers, Glen Pearson, Fort Scott, Don Pearson, Virginia, and Jerry Pearson, Fulton, Mo.; two sisters, Alberta Clark, Wichita, and Anna Mae Daily; many nieces and nephews, including nephew Tim Pearson, who was John's caregiver; great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nettie Collier.

Funeral services for John Pearson will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2007, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. The Rev. Mark Stetler will officiate.

Burial with military honors will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:30 p.m. until service time Friday at Cheney Witt.
