NEVADA, Mo. -- Sarah Varner has been recognized as the Nevada R e g i o n a l Te c h n i c a l Center student of the month for March. To qualify for the award the recipient was rated on citizenship, cooperative attitude, work ethic, and involvement in the activities at NRTC.

Her teacher, Stephani Beckett, nominated Varner, a senior in graphic design, for the award. According to Beckett, "Sarah is a very artistic student and quite talented on the computer. In fact, she has become my Photoshop expert. Some examples of her work include, designing the cover for the current yearbook as well as producing a brochure for a Nevada business. Recently the Missouri Recycling Association recognized Sarah for a poster she created promoting their endeavors. That design is featured on the association's 2007 calendar. At the present time, she is drawing a logo for another local business. All of these projects are in addition to the regular class work that I assign."

Beckett continued to praise Varner's academic accomplishments by saying, "Sarah maintains very high grades, her attendance is nearly perfect and she has never been tardy to my class. When you take into consideration that she has a seven period day plus zero hour, her achievements are quite remarkable."

After graduation from Nevada High School she plans to attend Pittsburg State University and pursue a degree in Graphic Design. She is the daughter of Rick and Cynthia Varner, Nevada.
