FRIENDS SOUTH DAKOTA
Well, I goofed again. I guess it was just another of my SENIOR moments, but Larry Pitts party for his 60th birthday was this last Saturday, not the 17th. I hope this did not keep any from attending.
We had a busy week on Tuesday. Some friends we met in Texas stopped by for a visit. Al and Marilyn Harms, of South Dakota, are leaders in the Bible studies each year. The planned to spend this next week at a condo in Branson.
Monday I had lunch with E.J. at his school at Truman. Friday cousins Diane and Phil Evans came for the weekend. They are doing sowers work at camp Barnaby near Purdy. Friday Pam and Bob Wingate and Hannah White came down bringing Swope hamburgers and susies, these are favorites of Diane's. Saturday, I picked up E.J. and J.D. Wingate to see everyone for awhile Saturday and we had supper. Diane and Phil drove to Chicken Annie's and picked up the meal. Edoline Smith, Bill and Mildred Perry, Pam Wingate and Hannah White were here, E.J. Wingate came later and spent the night. Sunday, Diane and Phil, Bill and Mildred, Doug Wingate, Kim, Danny and Hannah White and Pam Wingate, E. J. and Hannah enjoyed an Easter egg hunt here.
We were small in number for Easter services at church but the pastor, Connie, had a good message. We missed Veda Edmonds and Harold Brewer. Gina Cripps had the church looking so festive for Easter and Lawrence Cripps did a wonderful job at the piano.
Madge Baze attended church at Rinehart. She said Wednesday the seniors from the church had lunch at MoJo's in Nevada, with about 14 present.
Monday Madge said the Metz Alumni group, with president Joe Willis, met at her house to finalize plans for the upcoming alumni meeting, dates will be published later.
June Ann Brewer said they went to Fort Scott and ate at Deerfield before coming home. Teresa went to see a doctor in Sheldon on Wednesday. They had Easter dinner at 54 Cafe.
Johnny Heckadon, of Green Valley, Calif., stopped by on Friday. He is here because of the serious illness of his father, John Heckadon, who is hospitalized in Fort Scott.
Pat Gardner had Easter dinner with Dick and Sharon Gardner, the granddaughters enjoyed their Easter egg hunt.
Ruth and Terry Wheatley had their regular second Sunday of the month dinner for the family. Those there were Doris and Wayne Wheatley, Dick Pryor, Eve and Jim Corl; later, Tara Wheatley came to eat.
Ruth had gone to early church.
Saturday evening those going to eat at Montrose were: Anita and Zeke Bauer, Ruth and Terry, Bob Wingate and Chris and Roberta Sage.
Friday afternoon Kim and Danny White went to Carthage to a horse show. Her horse is in training but she liked what she saw of the progress. Saturday Hannah and grandma Pammy Wingate went down to watch.
Sheila and Danny Hogan had a busy weekend also, as they had all the family in for Easter -- Sheila's sister Brenda and Burton Eads, of Bloomington, Ind., who have spent the week at their home here, also Mischell and Chris Hogan, Chuck, Diana and Maria Rutledge, for dinner, and Maria's egg hunt. On Monday, the Eads went home to Indiana and the rest came out for leftovers.
Veda Edmonds went to see her doctor in Butler and he changed all her medicine. Now she is gaining strength and feeling so much better. Norm and Joe Sloniker took them, Jim also, out to eat for Easter to the South Side Restaurant. Veda said her neighbors, Sheila and Dan, are so kind to bring food to them and just check on them daily. Their neighbor John Olson also checks and said he will take them anytime, wherever they need to go. They do appreciate such neighbors.
Inis May, Margaret Ketterman and Ethel McCormick attended the 60th wedding anniversary of B.T. and Fern Eaton on Saturday.
Sunday, after church, Inis and Beverly met Todd Thorpe at Chicken Annie's for dinner. Inis reported you can warm up leftover onion rings and they are real crispy in the oven.
Monday Wayne and I went to Fort Scott to visit his sister, Norma Vacca. We took her to Wendy's for lunch, shopping at Wal-Mart and Woods grocery store. Wayne keeps hoping Nevada will get a Wendy's -- one of his favorite places to eat.
E.J. is working by helping mow our lawn. He is trying to make some money to buy a pair of Healies, -- regular shoes with rollers in the heels. He still has enough work in my yard picking up gum tree balls, which are thick and hurt when you walk barefoot. He is checking eBay trying to find some Healies in his price. Anyone with a size 6-7, call us.
Chuck and Genevieve Guinn enjoyed having their son Brad and granddaughter Karly in for Easter dinner, and a good visit. Chuck painted their living room last week then they had some new couches and things delivered. Saturday evening, the Guinns attended the Saturday evening church in Butler, which they enjoyed.
Tuesday, Genevieve had an appointment with her family doctor in Lamar, receiving a good report.
