Youth ballers find success

FORT SCOTT, Kan. -- A traveling basketball team made up of sixth-grade boys from Fort Scott just finished a season in which they won five tournaments and the championship of the Burlington (Kan.) league and finished with a stellar record of 31-1.

The members of the team were Austin Sather, Marques Floyd, Davis Drake, Johnathan Stark, Straton Hunziker, Dakota Wiley and Trey Sharp. The coaches are Kirk Sharp, Kevin Stark and David Hunziker.

The team, which has played together since third grade, finished first in the Longhorn Fundraiser Tournament, as well as tournaments in Fort Scott, Nevada, Iola, Kan., and Lamar, Mo. Their only loss of the season came in the championship game of a tournament at Blue Springs, Mo.
