The Tribune at 4 o'clock this afternoon says the weather bureau reports that the temperature will fall 20 degrees in the next 24 hours.
It is not the American Salvation Army that is opening up a station in this city, as stated, but the original Booth Salvation Army. The last pseudo representative of the American Salvation Army, who opened a station here, proved to be an impostor. He left owing a lot of debts.
Oscar Rice has branched out in the real estate business for himself. He has leased a suite of rooms in the Union Block and has his shingle hanging out to beckon customers to his place. Oscar is a hustler and will get a good share of business.

Friends of St. Mary's Catholic church and music lovers of the community are invited to attend the public organ recital and blessing of the new pipe organ at the church Thursday evening. The program has been announced by the choir director, D. Filizola.
Mrs. Lee (Ella) Cox, 74, a prominent resident of the Maple Grove community where she had lived for 37 years, died this morning at her home. Mrs. Cox was known as a Christian woman of outstanding character and was active in club and church work of her community. She was of the Quaker faith. The funeral will be held tomorrow from the home. Pallbearers will be Harley Trotter, A.A. Pease, Wallace Malone, Alfred Jenkins, Joseph Braden and Charles Neal. The body lies in state at the home.
DEVON--Frederick and Lyle Johnson demonstrated the making of pineapple-cheese salad at the 4-H Council meeting in Fort Scott. They gave the same demonstration at school Friday.
The county is graveling the roads in the Dayton vicinity and local men are being employed in the quarry near by.
T.L. Foy has been serving on the jury in Fort Scott.

Ray Hinderliter is the new president of the Fort Scott Kiwanis Club. Other officers for 1957 are Harry Royer, first vice president; Ed Gray , second vice president; Maurice Fletcher, treasurer; and James DiNardo, secretary. Directors named to one-year terms are Don Hewett, George Jones, Ed Lehnhoff, Dick Parker, Earnest Newell, Judge Francis Thomas and Les Hinkley.
Playing their second team during half of the game, the junior college Greyhounds posted a new season high last night on the Memorial Hall court where they ran up 117 points to wallop Kemper Military Academy of Booneville, Mo., 117-81. Bill and Bob Offutt, the big twins from Pleasanton, came into their own for the first time. The two recruits scored 41 points between them. Leon Crane had 19 points; Earl Eddington 14; and Holt 13.
Teen Talk (By Sharon Jarman--The lakes have frozen over and several who are enjoying the sport of ice skating are Bill Maguey, Cheryl Phillips, Richard Rapier, Peggy Meara, Mark Anderson, Kathleen Cooney, Charles Lakin, Larry Cooper, Kay Brinkman, Don Davis, Beth Randles and Joy Fowler. Randy Hessong had the misfortune to fall on a broken bottle and severely cut his knee. Randy is now recuperating in the hospital and on behalf of the student body we wish him a quick recovery.

Local artist, Lynn Murray, will appear in concert with his new group, the Black Hawk Band, on Jan. 22 at Cain's Ballroom, Tulsa. The group will open a concert bill with well known artist Jarry Jeff Walker. Other members of the band include L.O. Taylor, Greg Davis and Eliot Kelcy.
Jeanette Munden has been named to the Dean's Honor Roll of Wichita State University.
The Fort Scott Community College trustees voted to open the new agriculture-physical education building to area residents who want to walk or jog during inclement weather. Trustee Eugene Stuart cited recent cold weather in recommending that the board open the building to the public. The board gave unanimous approval to the proposal.
