Dale and Betty Hixon hosted a family gathering Friday evening, Oct. 27. Those enjoying homemade chili, vegetable soup, beans and cornbread, with peach cobbler and ice cream were: Denton and Annette Hixon and Raven, and Lois Reader, Uniontown; DeAnn Hixon, Mike and Lori Hixon, Barry and Dana Button, Alisa and Alex, and Dorothy DeCoudres, all of Fort Scott; Stan and Roberta Armstrong and Scott, all of Arlington, Texas; and Shirley McMillan of Fort Worth, Texas. They were all here to celebrate Howard and Agnes Armstrong's 65th wedding anniversary.
Jack and Marge Stephan announce that their granddaughter, Haley Compton, Fredonia, joined other team members and placed first in the team competition at the FFA Agricultural National Competition held at Indianapolis, Ind. Haley also placed first in the individual competition and won a $1,000 scholarship. Let us add our congratulations, too. Haley, way to go!
Christopher and Anndee Stringer and Genna, Rogers, Ark. visited his grandparents, Wayne and Marge Stringer, this week.

Monica Cowen, Hugoton, daughter of Larry and Sondra Cowen, visited her parents and grandparents, Richard and Freda Cowen over the weekend.
Joe and Shirley White enjoyed watching their great-granddaughters, Jordan and Maddie Thurston, decked out in their Halloween costumes, at their school parade, held at Winfield Scott on Tuesday afternoon.
The JOY class of Grace Baptist Tabernacle enjoyed a crayola potluck supper on Saturday evening, Oct. 28. A singing group, Testify, from the Arlington Baptist College, Arlington, Texas, was their guest, and they enjoyed hearing them sing two songs after their meal.
Shirley White celebrated her birthday with her husband, Joe, and Bob and Linda McBride. They spent from Oct. 25-29 camping and trail riding in Collins, Mo. They enjoyed the Halloween trail ride where they located pumpkins hanging from trees along the trail and win prizes. Linda was the grand prize winner and won a free weekend at the ranch.
Ron, Linda and James Center and June Hereford spent the evening of Oct. 30 in Pittsburg.
