HAROLD ELSKEN

Harold C. Elsken, age 83, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, in Fort Worth, Texas.

He was born in Paris, Arkansas, May 8, 1923, to Gerhard and Ida Elsken, he was the fifth of six sons. Following high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy three years, then enrolled at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, earning a bachelor of science in business administration.

After teaching high school business subjects one year, he spent 11 years in the air conditioning field, joining Aerojet General, Sacramento, Calif., for four years as quality assurance auditor. He then served 22 and a half years at General Dynamics in quality assurance, retiring in January of 1989.

Harold was a very devout Catholic, taking an active part in both school and church activities, always involved and participating in his children's endeavors.

The family expresses sincere thanks to the staff of James L. West and Community Hospice.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roman, Jerome and Rupert.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of 54 years; children, Celeste and John Stewart of Cedar Creek Lake, Texas, Belinda Elsken of Fort Worth, Texas, Andrea O'Brien of Plano, Texas, Craig and Carla Elsken of Willow Park, Texas, Dana and Chuck Milliken of Fort Worth, Texas and Felicia and Jeff Klein of Sierra Vista, Arizonia; 12 grandchildren; brothers, Marcell and Katie of Paris, Arkansas, Raymond and Sally of Valley Center, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Magdalen Elsken of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Kathleen and Art Graham of Lexington, Kentucky; and Sister Julita RSM of St. Louis, Missouri.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday October 3, 2006 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 1201 S. Cherry Lane. Interment in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Vigil at 7 p.m. Monday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to James L. West Care Center and Community Hospice, 1111 Summit Ave., Fort Worth 76102; or St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School, 1201 S. Cherry Lane, Fort Worth 76108; or both.
