After Jace and Jess Pavlik had taught the pre-teen Sunday School class on Sunday morning and Pastor David Peterson dismissed Arcadia Christian Church, Mae Watt was host for their dinner at Chicken Mary's in Yale. Carole Garrison and Mary V. Shead accompanied them. There they were greeted by Vera and John Parrish and Wayne and Christie Parrish and granddaughter Allyson Glessner.

Ralph Shead attended the funeral of David Frank Bunton on Tuesday, Sept. 12 in Lamar Christian Church. They were friends from the time the Sheads were missionaries in Chile and spoke during furloughs in the church and were guests in the Bunton home.

Birthdays for grandchildren were noted on Sunday morning as the birthday song was sung for Allyn Bridgewater, granddaughter of Linda and Bill Bridgewater, Cory Michael Long, grandson of Betty and Lou Dehn and Jennie Edwards, granddaughter of Mae Watt.

The monthly treasurer report was given by Bob Adams. Announcements included Class 10 to meet for the first time since May with Mary Lee Payne as chairman.

Special guests were Mike and Ann Morrison from Chelsea, Okla. She and her mother, Betty Briggs sang a children's song in keeping with the weather, named "Listen to the Rain Pitter Pitter Pat!" The pastor's sermon included "Being Holy People and Hold One Another Accountable." Things can invade a church that need to be watched carefully, namely, witchcraft, drugs, suicide, divorces and being lazy.

The Open Door Church has invited the Christian church congregation to a wiener roast in their church yard on Oct. 28.

Three Dormitory Wings, G-Rock, Zoe and Agape from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa made up of 27 students held a retreat at the Shead farm, in rural Garland over the weekend of Sept. l6. They began to arrive on Friday night and returned to their campus on Sunday morning. Another group is expected the following weekend.

This past week Channel 7, Pittsburg, showed two 4-State Heroes' pictures from Arcadia, Richard Totman and Wiley Teague, who was also honored for his forthcoming 94th birthday in October.

Residents here look forward to seeing more of our own heroes in the near future.
