Barbee house destroyed by fire

Bourbon County firefighters battled flames, smoke and extremely hot temperatures as they tried to contain a house fire Wednesday afternoon on North Barbee Street.

Fort Scott Fire Chief Dave Bruner said the department received a report at 2:08 p.m. of a structure fire at 11 N. Barbee St.

Bruner said after an investigation by his department, the cause of the fire is being classified as undetermined. He said investigators found nothing suspicious in nature.
