City commissioners to resume discussion of brick street policy

Fort Scott City Commissioners will have a second discussion on a policy to regulate how brick streets will be repaired after a utility cut is made. This patch where a pothole has developed over the years is located in the 600 block of Crawford Street.

When Fort Scott City Commissioners meet Tuesday, they will be asked to take a second look at a brick street policy. Actionon the policy, presented by Mayor Matthew Wells, was tabled Jan. 10 after extensive discussion.

Wells, who has campaigned for repairing the city’s historic brick streets and to form a crew dedicated to making those repairs, read from information gained following a meeting with representatives from Smart Growth, an organization that works with communities to make improvements towards growth.
