Larry Dean Miner

Larry Dean Miner, age 61 of Altoona, Kan., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Wilson Medical Center in Neodesha, Kan.

Larry was born Jan. 29, 1961 in Ft. Scott, Kan., to Ray and Laura Miner. He grew up alongside his twin brother Gary, other brother Derek, and sisters Sandy, and Brenda. He attended and graduated from Hume, Mo., High School. He then attended Ft. Scott Community College.

On May 9, 1980, Larry married Erma Swartz. Together, they had two daughters, Dusty and Tonya. They were married 23 years until her passing in 2003. On Aug. 4, 2012, he married Melinda Claus, and they joined their families together. Larry then gained two more daughters, Kayla and Kelly. They lived in Neodesha, Kan., for a while, then bought their farm near Altoona, Kan., where Larry and Melinda enjoyed raising cattle, horses, and goats.

Larry worked as an over-the-road truck driver, which he loved. When he wasn’t driving, he was still working, as there was always oil to change in vehicles, and farm animal chores that needed done. Aside from the working, Larry loved spending time with his family, and for the last few years, loved spending time raising his grandson, and best friend, Ryder.

Larry is survived by: his wife, Melinda of the home; his father, Ray Miner of Hume, Mo.,; daughters Dusty Miner of Cherryvale, Kan., Tonya Miner of Thayer, Kan., Kayla Connor of Fredonia, Kan., Kelly Robinson of Maine; grandchildren David, Kheley, Davin, Harley, Erma, Charlie, Bradley, Trinity, Korbin, Jaxon, Abagail, Aliza, McKayla, Ryder; great-grandchildren Gannon, Skyler, David III; twin brother, Gary Miner of Mexico; brother, Derek (Maranda) Miner of Eldorado, Mo.,; sister, Sandy (John) Cox of Fredonia, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his mother Laura Miner, and sister, Brenda Bradley.

Funeral service for Larry will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, 2022 at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kan. The family will receive friends at visitation for one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Altoona City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made out to Countryside Funeral Home to be put in a college education fund for Larry’s grandson, Ryder.
