Gilbert Wayne Niemeir
Gilbert Wayne Niemeir, 73, of Camden, Ark., went peacefully to be with our Lord God on Friday, April 30, 2021, He was born June 17, 1947 to Glen Wayne and Ruby Fay (McCracken) Niemier in Fort Scott, Kan.
Gil, as known by his family and friends, is survived by Linda, his wife of 45 years; a brother, Douglas Niemeir (Diana) and two sisters, Glenda Lalman (Bill) and Carol Ruble (Dan), all of Fort Scott, Kan.; son Daniel Niemeir, Muscatine, Iowa; daughter Patricia Galimi (James), Canal Winchester, Ohio; stepson Carl Kitchens, Camden, Ark.; grandchildren Jacob Niemeir, Muscatine, Iowa; Katelynn Kaufmann, Wilton, Iowa; Rachael Kendall, Girard, Kan.; Mitchel Kendall, Rock Island, Ill.; Suzanne and Destiny Kitchens, Camden, Ark.; great-grandchildren Emma Kendall, Connor Mathews and Frankie Kendall of Girard, Kan., and Bowden Carrington, Camden, Ark. There are many nieces and nephews scattered across the country.
He graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1965 and furthered his education at Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kan., and Webster University graduating with an MBA. He served in the USAF for 20 years, retiring with an honorable discharge, ranking as master sergeant. After his military career, Gil was employed at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, followed by various retail jobs with local automotive parts houses, Walmart Automotive and the Arkansas State Highway Department.
Gil was a friendly man who enjoyed talking with friends, relatives or even strangers given the opportunity. He enjoyed traveling, which he did as often as possible with Linda. He so enjoyed God's beautiful world and sitting around a campfire. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association since 1995. Gil shared his faith with anyone who would listen, especially through the prison ministry of CMA in the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He very much enjoyed riding motorcycles all his adult life and owning many over the years.
He enjoyed singing in the prisons and in his local church choir at Grace Baptist Church. He was taking guitar lessons in his later years, which he enjoyed. Gil loved animals, especially his last two cats, Sweetie Pie and Lucky.

Services were held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Grace Baptist Church, Camden, Ark., officiated by Dr. Richard Foster. Graveside services were held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bastrop, La., officiated by Tony Snow of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. Proctor Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
