Tigers open season with third place finish

The Fort Scott High School Tiger varsity softball team captured third place in a season-opening tournament Tuesday in Fort Scott.

After falling 10-3 to the Ottawa Cyclones in the first game of the tournament Tuesday afternoon, the Tigers (1-1) returned to the field later in the day to down the Chanute Blue Comets, 10-5.

In the championship game played prior to the third-place contest, the Spring Hill Broncos blanked the Cyclones, 10-0 to take first in the tournament.
