Juanita Maxine Fredericksen

Juanita Maxine Fredericksen, 92, of Fort Scott, Kan., died June 17, 2019, at KU Medical Center. Juanita was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Neodesha, Kan., to her parents, Walter and Pearl (Sage) Murken. She married Walter Fredericksen on Feb. 14, 1953, in Neodesha, Kan. Juanita grew up in Neodesha and was well-known for playing the piano at Neodesha High School pep rallies. Later, when the new high school was built and the old furniture sold, Juanita was able to purchase the grand piano she loved playing in high school. The grand piano was made in 1927, the same year she was born. Juanita enjoyed painting, creating ceramics, and loved animals, especially her beloved cat, Wallee. Juanita was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Walter Fredericksen, Fort Scott; daughters, Sue Fredericksen, Fort Scott, and Linda Fredericksen (Brian Caldwell), Topeka, Kan.; grandchildren: Alexander Fredericksen (Neal Nurnberg) Chase County, Kan., Marguerite Fredericksen, (Justin Whittaker) Council Grove, Kan., and Hannah Fredericksen, Fort Scott; sister, Ruth Hackworth, Neodesha, Kan., and sister-in-law, Delores Catlett, Independence, Kan.
Juanita was preceded in death by her son, Larry Eugene Fredericksen, a brother, Claude Henry Murken, two sisters, Bertha Ann Murken and Mary Nichols; and her parents.
Services are pending with Loren Fawcett Funeral Home in Neodesha.
