Greyhound women crash boards in victory

BEATRICE, Neb. — Coming off a stunning loss to the Washburn University junior varsity Wednesday night, the No. 14-ranked Fort Scott Community College women’s team bounced back with an 81-58 win over Southeast (Neb.) on the first night of a classic here Friday night.

Fort Scott (14-2) led at each break — 15-9 after one period and 34-23 at the half.

Tajishia Moore led the Greyhounds with 22 points and 16 rebounds followed by JonN’a McDonald off the bench with 13 points. Arkiarra Clark and Mariah McKinney each added 12 points.

Morgan Frauendorfer led Southeast (4-6) with 19 points with Emily Zvolanek added 18. No one else scored more than 6 points.

Fort Scott shot only 39 percent from the field, making 29 of 75 field-goal attempts but crashed the boards for a 56-35 advantage. The Greyhounds had 22 offensive boards to only 7 for Southeast.

Jada Perry handed out 5 of Fort Scott’s 20 assists.

Southeast shot 30 percent on 18 of 60 and committed 24 turnovers.

The Greyhounds face Central-Columbus tonight. They will return home Monday night to take on the University of Saint Mary JV at 6 p.m. in Arnold Arena.
