Mildred “Millie” Harris
Mildred “Millie” Harris, 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 8 at her home, Laurel Place in Port Angeles, Wash.
Mildred was born in Redfield, Kan., to Herbert and Hazel (Eisenbrandt) Elbrader.
After meeting Forrest Harris during a community dance at age 15, they were later married on Aug. 29, 1937, in Nevada, Mo. They went on to have two children, Kenneth and Linda, a few years later.
Mildred and her family have lived in the Olympic Peninsula area since 1947. During that time Mildred worked as a mail carrier, medical assistant and even helped out at Evergreen Meats, owned by her son at the time.
Mildred loved to dance, swim, bowl, fish, play card games with friends and enjoyed attending church and bible study at Independent Bible Church on a regular basis.
Mildred and Forrest were married 67 years until Forrest passed way in 2004.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Billie Ann Harris and her daughter Linda Matlock. Brothers Loyd Elbrader and Delbert Elbrader (Dorthia).
Grandchildren Ken Harris (Daisy), Tony Harris, Tina Drake (Skip,) Tim Harris (Cindie), and Mark Matlock, Malaena Matlock and Matthew Matlock.
She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Hazel Elbrader and three brothers, Harold, Earl Lee and Donald Elbrader and her loving husband, Forrest Harris.
A celebration of life will be held in her honor from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23 at Laurel Place located at 1133 E. Park Ave., Port Angeles, Wash. Arrangements made by Drennan-Ford Funeral home.
