Friday, July 13, 2018
Starting Monday, the city of Fort Scott water utility will initiate its annual flushing program and free chlorine burnout on the water distribution system.
The entire process, which is expected to take about five weeks, will end as soon as a free chlorine residual is established throughout the entire system. The burnout, which will affect the majority of Bourbon County, is necessary maintenance of the water distribution system which will help meet state standards for disinfection residual levels and ultimately maintain the high water quality customers have come to expect, a city news release said.
