Charge brought against student accused of making threat

A student who was interviewed about a threatening comment he was accused of making at Uniontown High School has officially been charged in the District Court of Bourbon County.

Seth Alexander Shore, 19, was arrested at 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, on charges of criminal threat, cause terror, evacuation, disruption. He was released at 8:01 a.m. from the Southeast Kansas Correctional Center after posting a $2,500 cash/surety bond. No court date or attorney for Shore are listed on district court documents as of Friday morning.

According to the criminal complaint filed by the Bourbon County Attorney’s Office, on or about March 5 and 6, Shore “did unlawfully communicate a threat to commit violence, with the intent to cause the evacuation, lock down or disruption in regular, ongoing activities of a building, to wit: 401 5th St., Uniontown, or with reckless disregard of the risk of causing such evacuation, lockdown or disruption.”

The charge is a severity level 9-person felony, which, if convicted, could result in a sentence of five to 17 months and/or a fine of up to $100,000.
