Eagle boys finish fourth, girls sixth
PLEASANTON — Uniontown’s boys finished in fourth place while the girls’ team placed sixth at the Pleasanton Mid-Season Tournament.
The tournament scheduled was altered slightly by the snowstorm earlier in the week with Tuesday’s games moved to Wednesday. The rest of the tournament was played as scheduled.
Wednesday: Uniontown boys 48, Oswego 21.
Eagle boys defeated Oswego for the third straight time, including the second time in eight days. Ben George led the second-seeded Eagles with 19 points.
The Eagles led 12-0 after one period and 22-5 at the half.
Wednesday: Marmaton Valley girls 31, Uniontown 24.
This was just the second win of the season for the Wildcats, who also beat Uniontown in their season opener at Moran.
Keely Goodridge and Karleigh Schoenberger each scored 8 points for Uniontown. Danielle Young hauled down 8 rebounds for the Eagles while Schoenberger grabbed 7.
Thursday: Uniontown girls 46, Altoona-Midway 8.
Eagle girls led 5-0 after one quarter and 19-2 at the half. Midway lost for the 53rd consecutive time.
The Jets’ last victory came via forfeit from Norwich in the 2015 Sub-State. Their last regular-season win came in 2011, losing 128 straight non-playoff game since then.
Schoenberger led the Eagles with 10 points. Young contributed 8 rebounds. Sammie Hampton picked up 4 steals.
Thursday: Osawatomie boys 64, Uniontown 50.
Ben George’s 26-point, nine-rebound effort wasn’t enough for the Eagles, who fell to Friday’s third-place game with the loss. Luke George added 10 points.
The Trojans held a slim 12-10 lead after one period but slowly extended that lead over the rest of the game. Osawatomie’s lead was 27-20 at the half and 45-34 after three.
Friday: Olathe Heritage Christian girls 45, Uniontown 30.
Schoenberger scored 17 points and hauled down 9 rebounds for Uniontown (2-9). However, with the loss, the Eagles finished sixth in the tournament.
