With the American flag whipping behind him, Chad Johnson, carpenter at the Fort Scott National Historic Site, begins placing a pulley on the flagpole rope for the National Parks Service flag. He was using a boom lift to reach the top of the two poles in front of the fort Monday afternoon. Replacing the ropes is a task he said he doesn’t mind doing – even on a windy day. Johnson said he enjoys going up in the boom.

Wind guests are possible today while temperatures go into the 70s, warming up from early morning wind chills in the mid-30s.
