Northeast volleyball goes 1-2 at Marmaton Valley
MORAN — Northeast volleyball went 1-2 Tuesday in a Three Rivers League quadrangular here, beating Crest and losing to Jayhawk-Linn and host Marmaton Valley. Set scores were not provided.
"We played decent at times," Viking head coach Russ Cramer said. "We were too inconsistent on the day. We seemed to be behind all night. We fought hard in games but couldn't seem to get over the hump."
Northeast stands at 3-7 in the TRL with league play concluded and 12-14 overall.
"We have to do a better job of getting the lead early in sets and playing comfortably."
Cramer still had praise for his players after they made some adjustments.
"Liz Toms had a good night for us after a rough first set. She figured some things out and got the ball down on a consistent basis.
"Maddy Walker and Rachel Fox played well. Rachel, our freshman libero, has been so important to our team this year. She has dome some great things and has been very consistent passing the ball. Maddy did a great job in the middle. She has been so solid for us this season."
Northeast finishes up the regular season with non-league matches Tuesday night. They will head to Galena to face the Bulldogs and Columbus. Those two teams have combined for one victory this season.
