GIRARD —Fort Scott’s Lauren Madison shot 45 on the front nine and 49 on the back as she finished second in the Girard Invitational here Thrusday, the first 18-hole tournament of the season.

Madison might have won but for the effort on the back nine of Pittsburg’s Samantha Maceli. After shooting 51 on the front nine, she roared back with a 39 on the back to win the tourney with a total of 90. It was the only nine by any player under 40.

Marissa Allen shot 60-63—123 and Kaitlyn Hanks finished at 74-78—152 for the Tigers, who did not have the four golfers required to be scored as a team.

The Tigers play in the second of three Southeast Kansas League designated tournaments Monday at Parsons. Madison currently leads the league after winning the Fort Scott Tournament on Tuesday.
