Middle school football splits

IOLA — Fort Scott Middle School’s football season opened here Thursday night with a split against Iola. The seventh-grade team suffered a 20-0 loss. The eighth-grade team led 14-0 at the half and went on to a 20-8 win. No details were available.

The Tigers play on the road next Thursday at Coffeyville-Roosevelt with kickoff at 4 p.m. The first home games will be against Independence on Sept. 21.
