Greyhounds go 3-1 in Nebraska
COLUMBUS, Neb. -- Fort Scott Community College volleyball went 3-1 here over the weekend at an invitational here.
In Friday's first match, No. 17 Fort Scott swept No. 14 Northeast, 25-14, 25-15, 25-21. Megan Turner had 14 kills in the match and Brette Moore finished with 12. Mickey Trimble handed out 38 assists and Katie Gorman led with 20 digs while Deardin Kelley had 15.
In their second match, the 'Hounds swept North Platte, 25-22, 25-19, 25-18. Moore had 18 kills and Turner 11. Trimble handed out 43 assists and Gorman came up with 19 digs.
On Saturday, the Greyhounds started things off with a 3-1 win over Bismarck State, 25-19, 12-25, 25-19, 25-15. Moore racked up 26 kills, Trimble 53 assists and Gorman 40 digs.
In their final match, Fort Scott (21-7) fell to No. 8 Central-Columbus, the host school, 25-20, 25-14, 25-22. Moore had 10 kills, Trimble 28 assists and Gorman 18 digs.
The latest NJCAA poll was released Tuesday and shows Fort Scott at No. 18 in Division II, down one spot from last week. Parkland, Ill., the defending national champion, remains No. 1 at 33-2. Coffeyville has moved up one spot to No. 6, Cowley three positions to No. 7, and Johnson County eight places to No. 10. Neosho County is no longer receiving votes but Highland continued to pick up votes this week.
The Greyhounds will play at Hesston tonight. This is not a conference match but it will count toward post-season Region VI Tournament seeding. Play begins at 6:30 p.m.
