Tiger soccer gets first win of season
Fort Scott High School's soccer team got its first win of the season Tuesday evening, winning at Riverton, 3-0. The Tigers broke a 10-match losing streak going back to last season.
Mannie Gonzalez's first goal of the season put the Tigers on the board minutes into the second half. John Montojo and Hudson each added their second goal of the season later on.
Fort Scott suffered its second consecutive league shut out Monday, falling at Independence, 8-0, in a Southeast Kansas League match.
The Tigers (0-3 SEK, 1-7 overall) were also shut out by Pittsburg, 9-0, on Sept. 8 at Ellis Park.
The Tigers host a non-league match against Spring Hill at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Ellis Park. They will travel to Pittsburg for an SEK rematch on Tuesday at the same time.
