Emma Jean Allen, 86, of Fort Scott, passed away early Monday morning, May 23, 2016. She was born April 29, 1930 in Fort Smith, Ark., the daughter of Theodore Roosevelt and Minnie Watson (Williams) Collins. She married Lawrence Roger Allen Jan. 7, 1951 in Fort Scott, Kan., and he preceded her in death Aug. 24, 2015.
Emma Jean worked for many years at Mercy Hospital and Newman Young Clinic. She was a member of the First Church of God at Wall and Broadway.
Emma Jean is survived by her three daughters, Wanda Kucera of Pittsburg, Kan., Marilyn Leigh of Fort Scott, Kan., and Dana Allen of Rocky Point, N.C.; a brother, Richard Collins, of Belle Plain, Kan.; sister-in-law, Alice Collins of Fort Smith, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Gabriel, Isaac, David, Mariah, Molly, Emily, Danny, and Emma; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Lawrence, Emma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Maxine McDow, and a brother, Buck Collins.
Lloyd Houk will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home with burial following at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
