Fleming signs with East Central
Fort Scott Community College sophomore basketball player Jeremiah Fleming has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at East Central University in Ada, Okla. Fleming helped lead the Greyhounds to a Conference Championship--their second in three years--and the top seed in the Region VI-Division II Tournament this season. He earned Second Team honors from Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II coaches.
"I am so proud of Jeremiah," Michael Cook, FSCC head coach said. "He is great example of what we look for in a student-athlete in our program. He worked hard over the off-season on his shooting and it has paid off.
"Watching Jeremiah grow on and off the court is what a coach enjoys more than anything. Seeing him excel--not only on the court, but in the classroom and as a leader--was tremendous joy for me. He has a bright future ahead of him and will do great things at East Central University."
Fleming helped the Greyhounds earn their third home playoff game in the last 49 seasons. He made 10 three-point shots against the Southwestern College JV early this past season, setting a school record. He also scored 24 points in a win over Johnson County Community College, shooting 6 of 12 from the 3-point line.
Fleming led NJCAA Division II nationally this season by making 128 3-point field goals, 16 more than the next-best player. He averaged 14.9 points per game this season while shooting 48 percent from the 3-point line, best in all divisions of the conference and Region VI, and ninth in the nation. Fleming finished his two years at FSCC 19th on the school's all-time scoring list.
