Reynolds, Pickert medal at Jayhawk-Linn
MOUND CITY -- Both Fort Scott and Uniontown sent golfers here Thursday to Jayhawk-Linn's tournament at Sugar Valley. The Tigers had their best finish of the season as a team with a fifth-place score of 374.
Uniontown sent just three golfers and did not score as a team.
Nick Reynolds medaled for the third consecutive tournament for the Tigers, shooting 87 to finish in sixth place. Bret Pickert won his first medal of the season with a season-low of 89, 10 stokes better than his previous 18-hole best.
"(Reynolds is) doing better each week and I hope he will stay on this upward trend as we move into the final (Southeast Kansas League) events in the next two weeks," Fort Scott head coach Ken Klassen said. "Brett Pickert ... went off to an exceptionally strong start and finished doing well enough with his 89 to finish eighth. The others did as well as they could, and though Coffeyville is a difficult course I think their scores will be lower (today). "
Camden Stiles shot 98 for the Tigers with Tanner Fox and Hudson Horn each shooting 100 and Derek Bollinger scoring a 110.
Dalton Clifton was Uniontown's best scorer with a 97. Dylan O'Neal finished at 113 and Hayden Schaaf shot 123.
Fort Scott plays in the third of four SEK league-designated tournaments today at Coffeyville. Uniontown was scheduled to play at Pomona-West Franklin Monday. The Eagles will host a JV tournament today and a varsity tournament at 1 p.m. Thursday, both of which will be held at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Fort Scott.
