Scotties take 2 from FSCC
HIGHLAND -- Highland, ranked No. 6 in this week's NJCAA Division II softball poll, swept Fort Scott Community College here Tuesday to clinch the Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division title for the second consecutive season.
The Scotties (20-2 East, 37-8 overall) won the opener 7-2 and the second game 9-1, sending Fort Scott to their fifth and sixth consecutive losses. The Greyhounds (4-18 East, 19-32 overall) finished the regular season by going 3-17 so far in the month of April after ending March at 16-15.
If the Greyhounds are to win 20 games in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history, they will need to win at least one game of an upcoming best-of-three Region VI Tournament first-round series, which will be held on the home field of the higher-seeded team later this month. The first two games will be played April 30 as a doubleheader with the third game to be held the next day if it's needed.
