Fort Scott golfers finish eighth at first league tournament

INDEPENDENCE -- Fort Scott High's golf team finished eighth in the first Southeast Kansas League desginated tournament of the season here Thursday.

Chanute was the team champion with a four-man, 18-hole score of 342 followed by non-league school Frontenac at 365 and Independence in third at 367.

Fort Scott shot 387 led by Scott Stiles' 92. He shot 43 on the front nine and 49 on the back. Tanner Fox scored 46-51--97 followed by Brett Pickert's 48-51--99, Derek Bollinger's 49-50--99, Nick Reynolds' 54-54--108 and Hudson Horn's 50-58--108.

Clete Carlson of Chanute was the individual champ with his 38-43--81.

The Tigers will compete in Pittsburg this afternoon at 3 p.m.
