Eagle boys defeat St. Paul

UNIONTOWN -- The home portion of Uniontown High School's basketball schedule tipped off here Tuesday night with a Three Rivers League doubleheader versus St. Paul. Eagle boys came out a 58-50 victor while the girls fell to the defending league champions, 43-33.

Eagle boys (1-0 TRL, 4-1 overall) had to hold off an Indian rally as St. Paul (0-1, 2-2) won the fourth quarter, 19-13.

Garrett Elder led Uniontown with 16 points followed by Ben George with 15 and David Bradbury with 10.

Shalina Harper and Holly Shinn combined for 2/3rds of the girls' points, scoring 11 each. The game was tied 5-5 after one period but St. Paul (2-0, 4-0) won the second quarter 16-8.

The Eagles fell to 0-1 in the TRL and 2-3 overall.

Both Uniontown teams host league games versus Pleasanton Friday night.
