'Hound men split in Nebraska

BEATRICE, Neb. -- Fort Scott Community College's men split games here over the weekend at the Southeast (Neb.) Classic. The Greyhounds (4-10) defeated host Southeast, 64-56, Friday night. They fell to Central (Neb.), 68-54, Saturday.

The 'Hounds rallied in the second half of Friday's game, outscoring Southeast 35-24 in the second half after being down by 3 points at the break. Dametrius Walker led Fort Scott with 25 points as he made 8 of 13 shots from the field and 8 of 10 free throws. Jeremiah Fleming followed with 17 points, which included 5 3-point goals.

Saturday, Fort Scott trailed by only one point, 31-30, at the half. Central outscored the 'Hounds 37-24 in the second half.

Walker led the Greyhounds again with 18 points. Marcus Allen added 14 and Fleming finished with 10.

Fort Scott plays at Penn Valley tonight in Kansas City, Mo. The Greyhounds lost to the Scouts at the buzzer, 71-69, on November 21 at Arnold Arena on the second night of the Gladbach Classic. The 'Hounds also play at Wentworth Military, Mo., on Saturday to close out pre-holiday play.

Fort Scott does not have a home game this month as it is currently in the middle of a series of seven straight games on the road that will not conclude until January 13 when the 'Hounds play at Brown Mackie.

NOTE -- A scheduling error that was posted on the Jayhawk Conference web site said that Fort Scott's women were to be in this event. However, they were not and play Thursday at 5:30 versus Iowa Western at Arnold Arena....
