Kyle Flanner
Kyle Flanner, 33, met his Savior face to face, on Aug. 27, 2015, from Joplin, Mo. He was born in Fort Scott, Kan., on June 8, 1982, to Karl and Joyce Flanner. He attended Faith Christian Academy, Fort Scott and Victory Bible Institute of Tulsa, Okla. He moved to Madison, Wisc., where he became a hairstylist. From there he spent several years in Chicago, Ill., and served as worship minister at the New Life Church. From there he relocated to Joplin, Mo., in 2011, where he continued his artistry at the Brush and Blade Salon.
Kyle had a very real relationship with Jesus. In the last few weeks before his passing he spent much time talking with those closest to him about the Lord. People were his priority in life, often to a fault. His passion for life was inspiring and captivating. He lived life to the fullest, pursuing music, biking, climbing, the culinary arts and loving his family and friends. He was a valuable part of the community and encouraged growth in the city and the community to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Alice Flanner, and his maternal grandfather, Raymond Golden. He is survived by his parents, Karl and Joyce Flanner, a brother and wife, Kevin and Stephanie Flanner, grandmother, Bertha Golden, nephew, Treyton and niece, Logan, all of Fort Scott.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Fort Scott Church of the Nazarene. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Flanner Children Scholarship Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, 201 S. Main St., Fort Scott, KS 66701.
