Leatha Lenora Griffith
Leatha Lenora Griffith of Fort Scott passed away on Aug. 22, 2015 at the age of 100. She will be remembered by most simply as "Grannie."
Grannie was born to Fred and Sarah (Galvin) Ricketts in Nevada, Mo. She married Charles F. ("Big Dad") Griffith in 1933, and they spent their lives farming and ranching in the Redfield area. They owned and operated the Fort Scott Sale Barn for many years. Grannie enjoyed quilting, needlework and painting.
Grannie is survived by her daughter Marjorie Jo Peak of Girard, Kan., and sister Elva Evans of Grand Island, Neb., nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, son Darrell ("Fred") of Hollywood, Fla.; sisters Audrey, Bernice, Fannie and Maymie, and brothers Ike and Robert.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan., under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. The family gratefully requests donations to Mercy Home Health and Hospice of Fort Scott and memorial contributions may be left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W.
