Carlton William Seaver, Jr.

Carlton William Seaver, Jr., age 87, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died early Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at the Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. He was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Fort Scott, the son of Carlton W. Seaver, Sr. and Anna Belle Mays Seaver. He married Sara Joanne Erickson on April 26, 1948. She preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 2010. Carl had served with the United States Army. He had worked for many years on the road and bridge crew for Bourbon County. He retired in 1990. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors as well as spending time with his family.

Survivors include his four children, Linda Hart and husband, John, of Rogersville, Mo., Kenneth W. "Bill" Seaver and wife, Sheila, of Kansas City, Kan., Carl B. Seaver and wife, June, of Fort Scott, and Donna Sue Snyder and husband, Dale, of Fulton, Kan.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Jo, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Seaver and two sisters, Evelyn Gates and Maxine Clark.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
