Dorothy May Headley
Dorothy May Headley, 64, of Fort Scott, died Saturday morning, July 18, 2015 at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. She was born May 9, 1951 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Mearl and Essie E. (Zion) Headley.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Sylvia Carter, husband William of Lee's Summit, Mo., her brother, Joe Headley, wife Julie of Fort Scott, Kan., three nieces, two great-nieces, two nephews and seven great-nephews. Dorothy had a big heart and was well loved by her friends, neighbors and extended family members that lovingly called her Aunt, Mom and Grandma.
Dorothy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth, her infant sister, Letha Faye and her parents, Mearl O. and Essie E. Headley as well as her brother, Russell L Headley, who are all buried at the Marmaton Cemetery.
Dorothy was raised in the church and was prepared to meet her Lord and Savior. She passed very peacefully knowing she had everything in order. We should all have this kind of a relationship with our Lord and Savior. Dorothy's wishes were to be cremated. Following cremation, a celebration of the life of Dorothy Headley will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS, 66701. The family of Dorothy Headley wish to thank the many caregivers who have looked after Dorothy's daily needs, the nurses and home healthcare providers and KU Medical Center for their compassion.
