No. 6 Cubs sweep Eagles
UNIONTOWN -- Humboldt, ranked No. 6 this week in Class 3A by the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches, visited Uniontown Thursday and the results went the Cubs' way in a 12-2, 17-5 sweep.
Uniontown (3-15) had just 2 hits in the first game, one each by John Kuns and Broderick Glessner. The Eagles scored once in the second inning when J.P. Pearson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in Glessner. Jesse Kuns scored the other run in the third on Cale Coyan's sacrifice fly.
The Eagles picked up 6 hits in game two but also committed 4 errors. Jesse Kuns, John Kuns, Glessner, Coyan, Kolby Seested and Tanner Stewart each had one hit. Seested, Stewart, Clay Robinson and John Kuns each drove in one run.
The Eagles were to have played Chetopa on the road Monday to conclude the regular season. However, Chetopa has had trouble fielding a team this season. If the doubleheader is not played, then Uniontown will be idle until the start of the Yates Center Class 2-1A Regional Tournament on May 18.
