Ona Pearl James
Ona Pearl James, 91, of Girard, Kan., died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Medicalodge of Frontenac in Frontenac, Kan.
Mrs. James was born March 11, 1924 at Garland, Kan., the daughter of David Franklin and Flora Shoop Beerbower. Ona was a homemaker and beautician who lived in the Hepler-Girard area most of her life. She was raised in Garland and graduated from Arcadia High School. She married Archie Ray James on June 11, 1950 at Fort Scott, Kan. Mr. James preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1979. She was a member of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church and the Eastern Star at Hepler.
Survivors include two sons, Timothy James of Girard and Mark (Toni) James of Baytown, Texas; four grandchildren, Garrett (Kelsey) James, Sara (Preston) Ellis, Justin (Mallory) James, and Heath James; three great-grandchildren, Gage James, Gannon James and Lucas Ellis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kan., with the Rev. David Beerbower and the Rev. Joe Hyde officiating. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bedene Chapel where friends may call after 11 a.m. Arrangement are under the direction of the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E.
