The pits were built in partnership with the City of Bronson, Bronson Ruritan and a National Horseshoe Pitching Association grant, along with other donations. Bronson Superintendent John Stokes started the groundwork two months ago. The next phase is to put a chain-link fence around the area and restrooms will be added in the park, Stokes said. The first world horseshoe contest was held in 1909 at Bronson. Upcoming tournaments are May 2-3, July 3 and Aug. 15.
