John Lloyd Swarts, III

John Lloyd Swarts, III, age 74, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Monday, March 23, 2015, as the result of a traffic accident near Deerfield, Mo. He was born Feb. 23, 1941, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of John L. Swarts, Jr. and Marjorie M. Miller Swarts. He married Hazel N. Denton on Nov. 23, 1963, in Manhattan, Kan. John retired from the United States Army and later served as Bourbon County Attorney.

Survivors include his wife Hazel of the home; a son, John L. Swarts, IV, Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, M. Marianne Roland and husband Melton, Bentonville, Va.; and two sisters, Sue Sutton, Dayton, Ohio, and Sylvia Patterson, Frontenac, Kan.

Committal services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott. Military honors will be provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.
