Tiger teams paired with Louisburg in 1st round
The Paola Class 4A-Division I Sub-State Tournament, which begins Thursday night, was seeded Saturday. The boys' side of the bracket was seeded as expected while Fort Scott High's girls may have benefited from a coin toss.
The boys' semifinals will be held Thursday night with Fort Scott (14-6) opening things up as the top seed against No. 4 Louisburg (6-14). The second semifinal between No. 3 Spring Hill (8-12) and host Paola (13-7) will follow at 7:30.
On the girls' side, Fort Scott and Spring Hill finished the regular season with identical 4-16 records. Since they had not played each other this season, the tie had to be broken with a coin toss. The Tigers got the call and will play the No. 2 seed Louisburg (10-10) at 6 p.m. Friday night. Spring Hill will face the top-seeded host, undefeated Paola, at 7:30.
The girls' championship game will be played at 6 p.m. Saturday night with the boys' final to follow at 7:30. The champions advance to the Class 4A-Division I State Tournament at Salina, March 11-14.
